How To Apply Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™

We recommend using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ Brushes or Sponge Roller  if you want a smoother fast application on large flat surfaces. Checkout more accessories in Annie Sloan tools & brushes 

• Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ will adhere to most surfaces indoors and out. There's no need for lots of preparation, you rarely need to sand or prime, but Annie recommends you do a patch test first use Annie Sloan Sanding pads 

• If the surface is super glossy or shiny, you may want to give it a light scuff sand to break the surface

• Applying multiple thin coats will also help with adhesion  

• Ensure you have cleaned the surface really well, we recommend Grime Cutter our go to cleaner

• Always stir Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ thoroughly before using

• If you see bleed through appear in your light colours apply a coat of Annie Sloan lacquer to seal or treat with a stain blocking primer

How To Finish Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™

Chalk Paint™  should be sealed with Annie Sloan Wax or Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Lacquer to finish and protect. Lacquer and wax will slightly darken the colour of the paint. Apply Lacquer with a Annie Sloan Foam Roller or Annie Sloan Flat Smooth Brush and wax with an Annie Sloan Wax Brush or lint free cloth. 

Wax Finish:

• Use a lint free cloth, sponge or wax brush to apply.

• Work the wax into the paint and wipe away before it's dry

• Create a shiny finish by leaving for 24 hours and buff to a sheen wax will be touch dry within a few hours and cures within 5-21 days

• You can use your furniture right away with care. Be careful not to chip or scratch during the curing period. 

Lacquer Finish:

• Do a patch test to check lacquer doesn't pull bleed through in your finish

• Avoid using multiple coats of lacquer over dark colours 

• If extra protection is required use a couple of coats of gloss lacquer before finally finishing with a coat of matt

• Gloss Lacquer will add a light sheen but is not super glossy
